Our first session begins with introducing ourselves and setting the scene for our working relationship. We'll cover contracting and boundaries and then spend most of the time hearing about your reasons for seeking help and your goals for therapy. Ultimately, the first session is a chance for you to check that you feel safe and comfortable working with me and for me to ensure a therapeutic relationship can be established, with your best interests in mind.
It's unlikely you (or I) will know for sure how long you may need to be in counselling for at the start. I have experience of working with both long and short term clients. Some difficulties are deep-rooted, others less so. We'll have open conversations about it throughout our time together to ensure that when an ending feels right, it is the best stepping stone for you to move forward from.
Based in the heart of beautiful Norwich, my private office on Exchange Street is a stone's throw away from the famous Norwich market and Jarrold's store. Easy parking is available within a few minutes walk at the following car parks: St Andrew's, St. Giles' , The Forum or Pottergate.
For privacy, the entrance is off the main road at the back of the building.
I am passionate about the effectiveness of my work so continuously read well-sourced literature and research to deepen my knowledge and stay up to date with contemporary findings.
I attend relevant and high quality CPD (Continuing Professional Development) opportunities through reputable organisations to keep my approach up to date and in line with professional standards.
Individual's sessions are £60. Payment is made in advance of each session by bank transfer. Some clients set up a standing order for simplicity or pay in batches (4/8/12 weeks). Other payment methods can be accepted by prior arrangement. Any overpayment in place at the end of our work is swiftly returned in full.
A cancellation policy is in place, detailed in the therapeutic contract.
I hope that you've seen something of interest here. The best way to know is to get in touch and arrange an initial session.
If you're not sure yet and would like to speak to me first, then send me an email and we can arrange a time to speak on the phone to answer any questions you have. There's no charge for this and no commitment to booking sessions is expected.
